The guestbook
A separate place inside every gallery for written messages alongside the photos.
~2 min read
Every PixVenu gallery includes a written guestbook — a separate scroll below the photo grid where guests can leave a short message for the host. It works the same way the photo upload form does: no account, no signup, just a name and the note itself. The guestbook is ideal for guests who couldn't make it to the event but still want to mark the moment.
Hosts can choose whether the guestbook is public or private. On the public setting, every entry is visible to all guests as they scroll the gallery — guests can read each other's notes alongside the photos. On the private setting, only the host can read what guests leave; from the guest side the form is still visible but the entries below it are hidden. Either way, the host always sees every entry from the host dashboard.
If you've turned on content moderation on the gallery, guestbook entries follow the same rule as photos — every new note lands in a "pending" state for the host to approve before other guests can see it. Approved entries appear in the public guestbook view; hidden ones disappear without notice to the author.
When you download the full gallery archive at the end of the event, the guestbook comes with it as a plain-text file and a CSV alongside the photos — so the messages are part of the same keepsake archive as the imagery. The guestbook tab is also where pinned messages show first when hosts highlight specific entries — useful for surfacing a particularly meaningful note from a guest who couldn't attend.
