Changing the email address on your account

Self-serve email update from the host settings — confirm the change in both inboxes and your existing galleries follow you over.

~4 min read

You can change the email address on your PixVenu account yourself from the host dashboard. Galleries, settings, co-host relationships, and any pending invitations carry over to the new address automatically — only the login credential changes.

Where to change it. Go to /home/settings and scroll to the Update your Email card. Type the new address into both fields (the confirm field is there to catch typos before they bite) and submit.

Then confirm in both inboxes. Supabase, which handles PixVenu's authentication, sends a confirmation email to both the old AND the new address. The change doesn't complete until both confirmations land:

  • Old inbox: an "Approve email change" link. Click it to authorize the change from the side of the address that owns the account today.
  • New inbox: a "Confirm your new email" link. Click it to prove ownership of the address you're moving to.

Both emails arrive within a minute or two. Once both are clicked, the next sign-in goes through with the new address; the old one stops working for sign-in.

If a confirmation email doesn't arrive, check the spam / promotions folder for "PixVenu" before retrying. The double-confirmation flow is designed to prevent account-hijacking via email-change abuse, so the security emails sometimes get filtered more aggressively than transactional ones.

What carries over. Once the change confirms, all of these are still tied to your account:

  • Every gallery you own (settings, photos, guestbook, RSVPs — everything).
  • Co-host relationships on galleries owned by other accounts.
  • Any pending pre-launch subscribers, contributors, comment notifications.
  • Past purchases + extend windows (when Stripe billing is wired).

What doesn't carry: outgoing email From-headers in already-sent emails (those carry the address that was on the account at send time — nothing we can retroactively change). New outgoing emails use the new address.

Don't create a new account and try to migrate manually. Creating a fresh account at the new email + then asking to "move galleries over" is hard and lossy on our side (RLS gates by account_id, which is fixed per row). The in-app email update is the supported path because it just rewrites the auth identity while every gallery's account_id stays put.

If the self-serve flow has trouble — confirmation email doesn't arrive after a retry, or the in-app form throws an error — contact us with both the current and the intended email address. We can verify your identity, then update the address from our side and let you know once it's done.

Still stuck?
